Drawing Machine, schoolwork
Exhibition + publication
What is a Drawing Machine? 3BA graphic design students answered this question in 12 individual publications. Encountering many issues when trying to represent drawing machines in 2D publications, they designed a small interactive exhibition in which their publications were presented. Presenting working drawing machines that invited the public to engage in a similar way the students had during their research on the subject, they presented content-related machines.
For example a Brian Eno inspired drawing machine, programmed robots dragging all kinds of drawing material and an interpretation of Tobias Gutmanns face-o-mat. Designing these publications as a group, they decided to create a list of subjects as starting point for their publications and to unify some of the design elements. The result was a 12-piece bubble-wrapped binding and four days of non-stop drawing with machines.
